Year 9 Science Project Inspires Year 2 Students

A group of our Year 9 students recently had the opportunity to share their creativity and scientific knowledge with our Year 2 students through a fun and engaging learning activity.

As part of their Science studies, the Year 9 students were challenged to create a picture book designed for a primary school audience. Their books explained the importance of nutrients and healthy eating in a simple, colourful and engaging way. Students explored the role of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in the body, explained how cooking is a chemical reaction, and introduced the scientific concept of the conservation of mass, all using age-appropriate language and plenty of illustrations.

After completing their books, the Year 9 students visited our Year 2 classrooms to read and share their stories with the younger students. It was wonderful to see the excitement and curiosity of the Year 2s as they learnt about healthy eating through books created especially for them.

Congratulations to our Year 9 students for producing such creative and informative picture books, and well done to our Year 2 students for being such enthusiastic and engaged learners. It was a fantastic example of students learning with, and from, one another.
